3月はバイロンの誕生日。今年のプレゼントは何にしようか迷ったあげく、バイロンのお父さん（Ray）の生まれ故郷、Winchesterに連れて行ってあげることにしました。
Byron’s birthday is coming soon. I wanted to give something special, so contacted Ray to get information of his birth place – Winchester.

本当はRayから通った学校などをコッソリ聞き出すつもりでしたが、Winchesterは単に生まれた場所なだけで学校は今私たちが住んでいる近辺とのこと。ということで、Winchesterで何が出来るかな・・と調べたところ、蒸気機関車というのにたどり着きました。私も蒸気機関車には乗ったことがないのでこれに決定。蒸気機関車はAltonとAlresfordを結んでいます。車でAltonまで向かい、そこから蒸気機関車に乗り込みました。
Originally I planned to take Byron to Ray’s old school etc but it was impossible as he did not go to school in Winchester… So I researched where I could take him instead in Winchester, and found out one possible place – Steam train! This steam train connect Alton and Alresford, so we head Alton by car.

蒸気機関車は1時間に1本走っています。時々イベントなども開催され、トーマス機関車が走ることもあるそうです。http://www.watercressline.co.uk/
The train is scheduled to run every hour. There are some events throughout the year, such as ‘Day out with Thomas’.

バイロンはやっぱり男の子。思った以上に楽しんでいたので、連れてきた甲斐があったわ～。他にも電車マニアの方などが写真をたくさん撮っていたりしました。
Byron was enjoying more than I expected. There were some ‘Train Geeks’ to take photos of this steam train.
