Holiday in SA – Whale watching
滞在したロッジから車で数時間のところに、St.Luciaという場所があります。この砂浜には6万年も前から、毎年11月から3月にかけて海がめが卵を産みにやってくることで有名です。残念ながら今回はその神秘的な現象を見ることは出来なかったのですが、WhaleウォッチングをめがけてSt.Luciaに行ってきました。
There is a place called St.Lucia a few hours away from our lodge. It is very famous for turtles visiting the beaches between November and March to lay their eggs since 60000 years ago. Unfortunatelly we could not see this magnificent view but did go Whale watching.
前日に嵐が吹き去ったため、海はおおしけ。バイロン曰く、船の上で私はかなり具合が悪そうだったとのこと。その通り、正直クジラどころではありませんでした・・。でもクジラを見た途端元気を取り戻しました！しかも親子のクジラで、子クジラはお腹を見せながら水面をジャンプしたりとかわいい表情を見せてくれました。
Due to a weather storm on the previous day, the wave was very chobby. Byron said I looked very green (sea sick)… yes I was extremely sick and just wanted to go back!! But we managed to see a few whales. We saw mother and carf. Luckily the carf was very playful and kept breaching.
それにしても、南アフリカの海はイギリスの海とは大違い。’野生’を感じます。
By the way, sea of South Africa is very much different from that of the U.K. I felt ‘wild’ from the scenary.
