今年も、母と叔母がヨーロッパ旅行にやってくることになりました。チェコ、オーストリア、ハンガリーの3カ国を廻り、ハンガリー内ではエステルゴム、センテンドレという土地を訪れたあとブダペストに入るというので、最終地ハンガリーはブダペストで落ち合うことになりました。ブダペストは、ドナウ川を境に「ブダ」と「ペスト」に分かれています。ブダ側は丘陵地帯で王宮などがあり、ドナウ河岸とブダ地域にあるブダ城は世界遺産に指定されています。ペスト側は平地で都市機能をが集中しており、川沿いに国会議事堂があります。
My mother and aunt were coming to Europe (again). They were plan to visit Czech, Austria and Hugary, and in Hungary they were to visit Esztergom, Szentendre then Budapest, so we decided to meet up in Budapest – their final destination. Budapest is divided by Danube river where Buda which is upper area with Palace and Pest is flat city area. Around the river and a Buda church in Buda area is part of World heritage site, and there is a Hungalian parliament by the river of Pest area.

母たちがブダペストに来るのは2日後なので、ひとまず私たちだけで観光することにしました。泊まったホテルはベスト側だったので、まずはそこから徒歩で行ける聖イシュトバーン大聖堂へ。高いところへ登るのが好きな私たちは、一気に長い階段を駆け上がりました。ここからドナウ川とブダ側の景色が見渡せ、青空が広がっていたこともあり、爽快でした。
My mother and aunt were to come to Budapest 2 days later, so we went sightseeing by ourselves. The hotel we stayed was in Pest area so first of all we headed off to St Stephen’s Basilica on foot. As we love going higher place we straight went to a top of the architecture. We could view Buda area and the river from there, and it was very refreshing to breeze under blue sky.

ここから歩いて10分程度のところに有名な吊り橋「くさり橋」があります。くさり橋は1849年にブダペストで始めて作られたドナウ川にかかる橋で、ヨーロッパで最も美しいモニュメントの一つとされるライオンの像が両端にあります。この橋はライトアップされた夜景が美しいことで有名ですが、ひとまずここを渡ってブダ側へ。
From here we walked to a famous suspension bridge – Chain bridge. It was built in 1894 and the oldest bridge which across the river in Budapest, and there are rions at both edge of the bridge which are referred as the most beautiful industrial monument in Europe. The bridge seems to be very beautiful with lit up in the evening, but we for now crossed the bridge to enter Buda area.

ブダ側の丘を登ったところで、ドナウ川とペスト側が一望出来ます。先ほど訪れた大聖堂やくさり橋、国会議事堂です。
On top of the hill in Buda area, we overlooked the river and Pest area. St Stephen’s Basilica we just visited, Chain bridge and Hungarian parliament were viewable too.

ブダ側にはマーチャーシュ教会やとんがり帽子の形をして７つの塔で出来ている漁夫の砦などがありますが、あいにく工事中のところが多く、腹ごしらえをして散策しました。
There is a famous church (Matthias Church) and the Fisherman’s Bastion which is made up of seven towers, but most of them were unluckily under constructions.

日が暮れ始めたころ、くさり橋の夜景を見ながらペスト側へ戻りました。ドナウの真珠と呼ばれるだけあり、その美しさは言葉を失うほどでした。一度は見ておく夜景だと思います。
As it was getting dark we decided to cross the bridge again to see the night view generally called ‘A Pearl of the Danube’. It was absolutely stunning and I understand why it is called so.
