この日は母と叔母が、オーストリアよりツアーバスで、エステルゴム、センテンドレを経由してブダペストに入る日でした。エステルゴムはスロベキアとの境にあり大聖堂があることで有名で、センテンドレもかわいらしい町並みとのことなので、母たちと落ち合う予定はなかったものの、この際両方の街へ行ってみることにしました。
My mother and aunt were to come into Hungary from Austria by a tour bus today. Their route was to Esztergom, Szentendre then finally Budapest. Esztergom has a magnificent church and Szentendre has also popular with its pretty scenery. We had no plan to meet them up there, but decided visit both towns anyway.

まずブダペストからエステルゴムへ北へ1時間半。路面電車、ローカル電車、バスを乗り継いでようやく目的の大聖堂に到着した直後、母と叔母の参加していると思われるツアーバスを発見！ここのどこかに母と叔母がいる～～！
It took about 1 and half hours to get Esztergom from Budapest, by a tram, a local train and a local bus. As soon as we arrived the church, I spotted a Japanese tour bus which looked like the one my mother and aunt were on. They must be somewhere around the area!!

いましたいました！駐車場から大聖堂へ向かう階段に、日本人の団体観光客を発見！階段上部あたりに母、中段あたりにいる帽子をかぶっているのが叔母、そして一番下にいらっしゃるのがツアーガイドさんでした。無事会うことができました～、が、現地観光ガイドさんが一生懸命説明をしている最中で、他の観光客の方もいたので、ひとまずここで別行動。
Yes, here they are! I found a bunch of Japanese people going up the stairs towards the church. My mother on top of the staris, my aunt middle of the stairs wearing a hut and it seemed a tour guide behind the people.
Finally we met them. However, they were in a middle of a guide tour with other people, so we quickly said ‘Hi’ and exchanged information of our holiday, and decided to sightseeing by ourselves.

これがそのエステルゴム大聖堂です。エステルゴムは10世紀から13世紀にかけてハンガリーの首都であり、エステルゴム大聖堂はハンガリ－・カトリックの総本山でハンガリ－最大の教会です。とにかくデカイ！の一言です。
This is the Esztergom Basilica. Esztergom was a capital of Hugary from 10 – 13 century and the Esztergom Basilica is seat of the Catholic Church in Hungary. It is HUGE!!!

高いところ好き、早速長く続く階段をへろへろになりながら上ってみました。ここからの景色は絶景です！ドナウ川の向こう岸は1993年に分離したスロベキア共和国です。ここの地域はスロバキアから流れるドナウ川がこの辺りで直角に南下している（折れ曲がる＝Bent）ことから、ドナウベントと呼ばれています。本当に川が直角に折れ曲がっているのが見えました。
We love going up, let’s going up, let’s going up,,, but as the stairs were very very long my legs became shaky in the end (lol). The view from the top of the dome was magnificent! The other side of the rive is a republic of Slovakia which was separated from Hungary in 1993. This area is called ‘Danube Bent’ due to the river from Slovakia is all of sudden bending to the south. I could see the almost 90 degree bending point.

大聖堂の中ですが、直径３３．５メートルもあるドーム、10メートルもあるというハンガリー一大きなパイプオルガンなどがありました。
Inside is also stunning. A dome with a diameter of 33.5 meters and the largest pipe organ in Hungary with the length of 10 meters.

さて、母たちはツアーバスでセンテンドレに向かいました。私たちもその後に続き、ローカルバスに1時間半揺られ、ドナウ川沿いの街、センテンドレに到着しました。ここはブダペストから約２０キロという位置にありベッドタウンなんだそうです。先に到着した母と叔母が、若々しく手を振っています（笑）。ハンガリーで最も大きな屋外美術館があり、石畳道路の両脇には、ペッパー、ハンガリアン・レース、陶磁器などのお店が並んでいました。
My mother and aunt left for the next destination – a riverside town called Szentendre – by their tour bus. We followed them a bit later by a local bus. It is a bed town of Hungary that distance from Budapest is about 20 km. My mother and aunt who got there first spotted us and were waving at us. There was an outdoor museum, which is the biggest one in Hungary, and small shops selling peppers, Hungarian laces and chinas were on the street.

センテンドレからブダペストまではバスや電車でも帰れるのですが、せっかくなので私たちはフェリーに乗ることにしました。1時間に1本程度出ていたと思います。ブダペストに到着する時間になると、運良く日が落ちてきて、周囲の建物は徐々にライトアップされました。
You could take buses or trains from Szentendre to Budapest, but we took an opportunity to catch a ferry, which was scheduled to depart every one hour or so. By the time when we were close to Budapest the Sun started settings and Hungarian parliament, Chain bridge and many other buildings were beautifully lit up.
