今回のホリデーで（いや、人生で）最大のアドベンチャーを体験しました。サファリパークのキリンを見下ろしながらのスカイダイビングです！最もキリンに見入っている余裕はありませんでしたが・・。スカイダイビングには大晦日パーティーを一緒に過ごしたBradleyとKerryが連れて行って くれました。挑戦したい気持ちと恐怖心が混ざっていましたが、バイロンのアドレナリンとホリデー気分が後押ししてくれました。高さは9000フィート、下 降時間は35秒です。パラシュートは自分で開くように言われていました。え？自分で開くってそんな・・・。35秒経った後インストラクターが腰の辺りを叩 くので黄色いノブを引っ張ってと・・・。は～い、頑張りま～す。でも自分で開けなかったらインストラクターが開いてくれるとのこと。そしてインストラクターも私も 心臓発作になった場合などは、パラシュートに付随されている小さなコンピュータが、ある程度の高さまで下降した段階で自然に開いてくれるんだそうです。 けっこう安全なんですね。この模様は下記ビデオをご覧ください！
I experienced a most adventurous thing in this holiday (actually in my life!). I did a sky diving overlooking giraffes in safari! Well of course I didn’t have time to enjoy looking at giraffes though… Bradley and Kerry whom we spent new year’s party with took us to the place – a Pitermarizburg airport. I was half scared and half excited, but Byron’s adrenaline and holiday mood pushed me to do this. The height would be 9000 feet, 35 sec to free fall, I would need to open up an parachute by myself after the 35 sec. Ah what!? Open up an parachute by myself!!?? Yes, after the 35 sec an instructor will tap on my hips, then I will have to pull an yellow stick by my hip. Hmmm sounds easy but not sure if I could do it. However, the instructor will pull it if I was in panic. Also there seems to be a little computer attached to an parachute which will detect a certain height and open it up automatically in case of us getting hart attack. It seems quite safe….
