出産前の最後のホリデー、6月14日から16日までクロアチアはドブロブニクへ行ってきました！クロアチアはアドレア海に面している国で、1991年にユーゴスラビア連邦から独立しています。目的地のドブロブニクはクロアチア南部に位置し、ボスニア・ヘルツェゴビナ、モンテネグロに隣し、1991年から1995年まで続いた戦乱で壊滅的な被害を受けた場所でもあります。また、ドブロブニク内にある旧市街は長さ2キロの城壁で囲まれており、1979年に世界遺産に指定されています。
We went on holiday to Croatia – Dubrovnik from 14th to 16th September. This holiday would be the last one before our baby is born. Croatia is a country which is at the crossroad of Adriatic sea and declared an independence from Yugoslavia in 1991. Our destination Dubrovnik is a city located in south and very close to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, and damaged by war between 1991 and 1995. There are a place called ‘Old City’ which is surrounded by Walls, and the city itself was listed on World heritage site in 1979.

ロンドンからの直行便はBAだけのようです。
さて、ロンドンガトウィック空港をいよいよ出発し・・・
Only BA seems the direct flight there.
Our airplane was from London Gatwick.

ドーバー海峡を越え・・・・
We passed Dover…

アルプス山脈を越え・・・・
We passed the Alps…

クロアチアの沿岸が見えてきました！
And finally Croatian coast line appeared!

海岸沿いを南下すると、
世界遺産の旧市街もバッチリ見えました。
The airplane flew to further south,
and our destination Dubrovnik and
Old city were also in our sights!

空港からは旧市街のピレ門までシャトルバス（1人７０クーナ）が出ています。それにのって40分くらいでしょうか、旧市街が見えてきました。お天気が良かったために、景色が最高に美しく、写真を撮っても撮っても撮り足りないくらいでした。
From the airport to Pile gate at Old city, it took around 40 min by a shuttle bus (70 kuna per person). The weather was superb and we couldn’t help taking pictures.

旧市街に到着しました。下の写真が旧市街の地図になります。市街の周りをぐるっと城壁が囲んでいるのが分かります。
We finally arrived Old city. Below is the map of the city which is surrounded by walls.

まずは旧市街内にて腹ごしらえ。港が見えるレストランで食べたランチがこれまたとってもとってもとってもとっても美味しく、もうこれだけで旅を満喫した気分になりました。
First of all, we popped into a restaurant with marina view in Old city. The lunch here was yummy yummy yummy! This already made my day (lol).

そして早速城壁を1週してみることにしました（1人50クーナ）。非常にアップダウンが激しい城壁ですが、ここからの景色は絶景です！！旧市街の中やアドレア海が一望でき、またその先のロクロム島も見えます。ちなみにこの城壁は、ドブロブニク市民の約半数が犠牲となった1667年の大地震でも壊れなかったほど頑丈なんだそうです。
Then decided to walk around the walls which distance is 2 km (50 kuna per person). There are lots of steep steps here and there, the view from top of the wall is unbelievably significant! We could see the details of the Old city, Adriatic sea and small islands. By the way there was a big earthquake in 1667 which took almost half the lives in Dubrovnik, but this walls did not seem to get damaged at all.

旧市街のメインストリートは観光客用のお店やレストランが立ち並んでいますが、その他の路地を行くと普通の民家で、庶民の生活の様子が伺えます。この辺りにはSOBEと呼ばれる観光客用のアパートメントもたくさんありますが、かな～り長い階段を登らないといけない上に、旧市街の外にある高級ホテルと同じような値段だったりすることもあるようです。
There are shops and restaurants for tourists on the main street of Old city, but other parts are normal residential area. There seem to be a lot of apartments called SOBE for tourists, but most of them are high up with stairs and seem to be quite expensive like other luxury hotels outside of Old city.

たくさん歩いたし日も暮れてきたので、ホテルに戻ることにしました。これまでの旅行では、廊下の音が筒抜けだったりシングルベッドくらいの小さなベッドだったりする安い宿に泊まることがほとんどだったのですが、今回は出産前の最後の旅ということもあり、旧市街から徒歩10分足らずの海沿いの5つ星ホテルに決めました。とは言え、そのホテルの格安プランだったので、部屋全体は3つ星程度だったかな。
After satisfying the walk, we headed for our hotel. So far we generally stayed very cheap hotel, ie) noise from corridor were very loud, the size of bed was like for a single person etc etc, however, as this was the last holiday before the baby is born, we decided to be a little bit more extravagant so stayed at a 5 star sea side hotel which location was 10 min walk from the Old city. Having said so, it was the cheapest room of the hotel, so I rate the room as 3 stars… You get what you paid for…

=== ジオキャッシング (Geocaching)

最近夢中になっていることがあります。それはジオキャッシング（http://www.geocaching.com/）と呼ばれるもので、宝探しのような感覚でハイキングや観光が楽しめる仕組みになっています。世界中の街の中や自然の中にキャッシュと呼ばれる宝が隠されていて、それをGPSを使って探し求め、宝の中にあるログブックに自分の名前を記録し、宝自体を交換することが出来たりします。だいたい素晴らしい景色が見える場所や有名な場所にキャッシュが隠されていることが多いので、思いがけずロマンチックな場所にたどり着けることが出来たりもするんです。そしてここドブロブニクにも何箇所かキャッシュが隠されている場所がありました。第1日目はこの場所で、バーチャルキャッシュと呼ばれるものです。ここで記念撮影をしてこの付近のとある文字を読むことで、キャッシュを見つけたとみなされます。一つ目ゲットです。
We have recently been into Geocching. It is “a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The basic idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, outdoors and then share your experiences online.” There are several caches in Dubrovnik, and the first one was here – virtual cache. By taking a picture and reading a special code around the area, we get the cache.
